Staring out at the water
as the reflective glare
stares back at you
ingesting your tears
as the sadness within you
sees only the despair
being eaten by saline
your wounds open
the salt in the water
mixed with your blood
trying to dissolve the toxic moods
that destroy the happiest thoughts
because those thoughts
are rarely strong enough to surface
because it’s the anger
and the frustration
that holds you close
close enough to the waters edge
but far enough
that you never fully submerge
because no matter how happy
you could be
you should be
you fill of guilt
knowing that the salt
that cleans your wounds
must become the toxic you.
Thanks for reading.
