If others can’t see us smile how do we prove we are?

There is a need to be enjoyed
to be taken in
as if entirely alone
in the smallest portion of Earth
detached from our technological appendages
we may not exist.

If others can’t see us smile
how do we prove we are?
If we cannot capture the event
how do we reason it happened?
If we are not liked
then how do we determine our worth?
Is our worth nothing?

Did we stop
investing in ourselves
and rather we invested
into the need of being wanted
overlooking the desire in others
always trying to appeal
to a sense of pain
a sense of happiness
whichever catches the most nibbles.

Now we robotically impress
moving our arms
readjusting the rusty gears
placing in the better parts
anytime another claims they don’t like us
or they like another more.
Are we really incapable of smiling
because the moment is worth it
if it isn’t captured for others?
Are we incapable
of submitting the first take
rather than the several after snaps
trying to capture the best
to be the best
reality knows the truth
even if the rest of us no longer do.

Thanks for reading.
