As the worms slither beneath.

In the dirt
materials are laid
and houses are built
as the worms slither beneath
eating the minerals
as a shovel halves them
wiggling two parts.

The smaller part
slithers quickly
escaping the quick thrusts
of the shovel
busily leveling the ground
for a swimming pool
for the animals to play
in clean water
filled of chemicals
to fight the algae
as they curiously
explore the outdoors.

Within the pool
they go under
and as their heads
approach the air
their hands quickly swat
the disease ridden insect
fluttering about
as it scatters onto the next.

Upon the deck an animal lays
the mosquito lands upon a leg
slurping the iron filled liquid
swat it explodes
spraying upon the leg
a mutter of the words
Gross.

The boards upon the deck
begin to wobble
and the animal upon it
begins to shake
looking around, startled.
Beneath the rather larger part
sprouted out of the dirt
with a scent of iron
in the air
as it pushes itself through boards
breaking them
and taking with it
a rather larger meal.
