Is a ghost dead
have we been mislead
are they parts
scattered about
falling off the living
as they’re shivering
warming their iced limbs
from within?
Are ghosts what the living has cast
breaking off bits of their past?
Are ghosts the memories left behind
the ones of burdened time?
If they hadn’t been evicted
their minds might have solidified
into an icy block long before the formaldehyde
and as the temperatures outside rose
they would have unfroze
as their minds begun to warm
then liquify and burn
brain juice would be acid to skin
leaving the entire world thin.
