Wealth isn’t going to fix it.

Everyone is destroying the planet
wealth is not heroic
wealth isn’t going to fix it.

The more money
the more travel
the faster the car
the bigger the house
the bigger the wardrobe
the fancier the food.

Look down upon those
with less wealth
clothing a family of four
for the amount
you pay on one dress
mocking those with holes
in their clothes
and worn down soles
on their feet
those that create less waste
re-use
why are they so beneath you?

It doesn’t equate
the work you put in
to what you make
it doesn’t correlate.

Toxic emissions
as a rocket hits space
slums are the ones
that would penetrate our atmosphere
to come down in tears
for an experience
that wasn’t a necessity.

You’re not wonderful
you’re not perfect
you’re not to be envied
you’re not to be feared
you are to be stripped of your wealth
so the Earth
can keep living
and all of us
can have a home.
