It’s all so loud
the raindrops on the window
the birds perching upon the roof
the critters fighting for a nut outside the door
the bickering of siblings
and the arguments of spouses
when a bill is up
and about to hit past due.
The mind pulls away
forming words within itself
as the noise dissipates
because in the mind
the rest must remain silent
as it begins to relax
the noise it gains momentum
it’ll never stop
the woodpecker
is hitting the metal pipe again
at the top of the prison
humans have confined themselves within.
I thought homes
were meant to shelter
not accumulate more stress
and more worries
as the technology
advances
in which I thought
the stress was to dissipate
rather the bills grow higher
and the dependency
greater
as navigating by foot
takes time
and the digital watch
keeps moving by
laughing
ready to break
and again another bill.
Thanks for reading.
