Selfishness.

Selfishness
is a necessity
if one must
fill their basic needs
water, air, oxygen
they must breathe.

If they share their mask
as the plane goes under
and the passenger besides them
accepts their offer
isn’t the passenger selfish?

The one that sacrificed
is a hero
until the body
in the survivors basement
is discovered
and the hero
who gave up their mask
has now taken another life
besides their own
all because they wanted
to be honored
and appear unselfish.
